MpX Diamond Touch?
Here it is and but it is still under development
. “Linux-based MPX multi-touch table shows that things are moving full speed ahead n the land of the free penguins“. The Linux Community have already made their move developing a touch screen technology called “MPX or Multi-Pointer X is a modification of the X Windows Server that allows multiple input devices to be used at the same time“. Although it’s not finished yet I bet this would be considered as an alternative to Microsoft Surface. As far as technology is concerned, MPX is combined with Diamond Touch technology which basically differs from Microsoft’s TouchLight or Han’s FITR hardware. The good thing about it is that it can recognize four different unique users. Microsoft Surface and Han’s development allows multiple users to interact, but they dont recognize as unique yet. Drawbacks? well unfortunately it has plenty.
“However, there are drawbacks: This solution requires “each user to touch a different conductive pad” for the system to recognize them and according to MPX’s developer: “The DT is good for detecting multi-touch from different users but not good at detecting multi-touch from the same user.” Still, it will be interesting to see MPX evolve, specially if they can get it to work in other kind of Minority Report-style hardware interfaces.”
I would love to see this on the far end. I hope it will be released soon and be stable or even exceed the technologies of Microsoft or Han’s hehe
